One of the great Christian thinkers of the Sixth Century, St Augustine of Hippo, said that those who sing pray twice, and music has always been a vehicle of expressing praise, aspiration, thanksgiving and lament in worship.
St Stephen's has a long tradition of using the rich and glorious repertoire of music written for the liturgy in our worship, and the Sung Mass on Sundays and Festival days includes choral music sung by our professional choir and is accompanied on the very fine organ we are fortunate to possess.
We also host a number of choirs and orchestras who enjoy using the inspiring setting of St Stephen's for concerts and recitals, and a regular programme of musical events takes place here.
